Northfield Nursery is Jumping for Joy after gaining ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report

We’re absolutely thrilled to be celebrating being rated ‘Outstanding’ at our Northfield setting, after its recent Ofsted Inspection.

We were delighted with the report, which praised the nursery’s ‘truly enabling environments’ and ‘ethos of promoting all aspects of learning through rewarding play experiences.’

We celebrated Northfield’s 13th birthday last year and it’s previously been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted. But we’re literally jumping for joy now at receiving our first ‘Outstanding’!

The report’s overall emphasis was on the team’s effectiveness, from management, throughout the nursery, in facilitating children’s learning and development and identifying and closing gaps rapidly and significantly. There was also a strong emphasis on children’s ‘extensive’ personal and social skills and ‘thorough sense of safety.’

Ofsted recognised that children are confident and independent and have exciting experiences in ‘imaginatively resourced’ and ‘captivating’ environments, that ‘ignite’ their interests. The report states that: “Children satisfy their natural curiosity and test their abilities through play with unusual toys and equipment. The added value of these experiences helps children to develop far-reaching skills for their future roles in society.”

It also recognised the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, highlighting that: “Pre-school staff include high levels of challenge. Teaching flows effortlessly and staff respond instantly to children’s ideas and reshape activities. The baby room staff enthuse babies with lots of actions while they sing nursery rhymes. They encourage babies to turn pages and expertly increase vocabulary.”

It further praised the nursery’s partnerships with parents and other professionals, stating that: “All work together immensely effectively to ensure children achieve and sustain remarkable progress in their development. Staff meet children’s care needs commendably.”

Nursery Manager, Janette Moran, said: “I cannot express how proud I am of each and every one of the team. Everyone has worked so hard and shown such dedication in achieving this wonderful result. I am delighted that the inspector was particularly impressed with our clear vision, commitment, ethos and excellent outcomes for children.

“This result is testament to all of the hard work that goes on every day to ensure we provide the best possible nursery we can for the children in our care.”
