Joining the Bright Kids family from March 2019 is The Old School Nursery based in Coughton, South Warwickshire. Close to the town of Alcester and near Redditch, on the border with Worcestershire, the Coughton Nursery has provided quality, friendly childcare services for nearly 10 years. We are proud that our smallest and most intimate nursery achieved a Good Ofsted rating in August 2022 at its first inspection.
On the A435 south of Studley, north of Alcester and situated in Sambourne Lane, opposite historic Coughton Court, the Coughton Nursery offers indoor and outdoor play on a daily basis, providing the children with essential play opportunities to learn from.
The facilities at Coughton include an outdoor classroom and a large playspace that we are constantly developing into an interesting environment for children to learn and explore. Indoors, babies have their own dedicated area with activities suitable for their development. Our Toddlers & Pre-school children share a space with integrated learning aimed at their individual learning needs.
We bring all of the awe inspiring experiences that we offer in our other settings to Coughton. Bright Kids has introduced its Curious theme to the learning environment and the hole team has been trained in this. We also spend time exploring nature in the local area and seeing how we can interact with it through taking walks and joining in with local activities.

Welcome from Holly…
Hello and welcome to Bright Kids nursery Coughton. Iβm Holly Burgess the Manager here at the Coughton Nursery.
I graduated from the University of Worcester in 2014 and have been working in early years settings, both in mainstream and special education ever since⦠more
We have now undertaken our first Ofsted Inspection, which took place in August 2022 once Ofsted were inspecting fully once again.
At Coughton Nursery the overall the quality of the provision is GOOD
Children benefit from a curriculum that is clearly defined and understood by staff. It is designed well to give children a rounded and secure set of skills by the time they leave to start school. Staff place a strong emphasis on children’s social, communication and physical development. They fully understand that these skills form the foundations for all other learning.
Staff provide an enchanting learning environment which really encourages children to explore. The attention to detail is evident. Children are fascinated by what is on offer and their interest is maintained for long periods of time. As a result, children learn to try out their own ideas and to focus well.
Staff heap praise on the guidance and encouragement they receive from the manager. Staff have grown in confidence about their own abilities and recognise they are better practitioners because of her support. Some staff refer to the nursery as ‘family’. Staff’s willingness to learn and their commitment to being the best they can means they are well-placed to build further on their existing good caring and teaching practice.
