Your Child’s Care & Education

Care & EducationWe provide childcare & education that is valued by busy and working parents. We offer individual services that are flexible to the specific needs of parents with babies and children ranging from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.

Peace of Mind…

We focus on the individual needs of your child so that they develop to their full potential in a safe, secure environment. You can be confident with our robust procedures, caring staff and hands-on owner involvement in the running of the setting that your child is getting the best possible care and attention. Their happiness and development is paramount at Bright Kids.

As Early Years specialists we have tailored our services within the 4 broad age categories: Babies, Toddlers, Pre-School and Out of School.  We plan an individualised programme of activities for your child in order to promote learning in a fun, interesting and motivating way. Bright Kids use the Early Years Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum regulated by Ofsted as a guide. We follow the four guiding principles:

  • A Unique Child
  • Positive Relationships
  • Enabling Environments
  • Learning & Development

“The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life”  EYFS: 2021

In 2021 a new Parent Guide What to Expect in the EYFS? was introduced by the Department for Education & Foundation Years. This details each stage of your child’s development from Birth to 5 years. It includes useful information about how you can support their learning and development in this crucial period. It mirrors what we are doing with the children in nursery as well as giving your child the best possible start in life.

The EYFS looks at learning across 7 areas which start from birth supporting children’s ongoing development until they start school.

PRIME AREAS OF LEARNING

  • Personal, Social & Emotional
  • Communication & Language
  • Physical

These prime areas are what all babies need to concentrate on in their first few weeks and months of development. When they start nursery we will continue to support their development from home in our caring, safe environment. We focus on these prime areas until we are happy that your child is ready for their next steps. During the period between 2 and 3 years of age we work with you and your Health Professionals to develop a Progress Check for your child. As a written summary of how they are progressing against these 3 prime areas, we can all ensure they are ready to move to the more specific learning areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and seek more support for them if needed.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF LEARNING

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts & Design

These specific areas include many essential skills and also knowledge that children need to learn in order to be ready for school and they are in addition to the prime areas. We all play a vital role in helping children achieve these and your involvement as a parent is a key factor in their success.

All seven areas are used to promote your child’s individual interests and unique learning needs. Children are observed regularly to ensure their learning is effective; which can be seen by them investigating, concentrating and having their own ideas and thoughts.

Please download our Parents Guide to the Early Years Foundation Stage for more detailed information on these 7 areas.
