Last week, our little ones were full of energy as we dove into two exciting throwing and catching games - and the smiles were absolutely everywhere! 🥎😄

In early years, physical play means so much more than just running around. It helps children:
– Strengthen gross motor skills through climbing, jumping and balancing
– Develop fine motor control - even something as small as zipping up a coat
– Learn teamwork, confidence and resilience through active play
– Build language and numeracy by counting throws, describing movements, and cheering each other on 🗣️🔢

Whether it’s a game of catch, an adventure on the climbing frame or simply pretending to be racing cheetahs, movement is a joyful part of how children learn, grow and thrive 🏃‍♀️

Why not try a game of “catch and count” at home - how many times can you throw and catch before someone drops the ball? It's great fun and perfect for both number skills and bonding time! ✨

Our little gardeners created their very own petite rose garden - and oh, what a beautiful job they did! With careful hands and curious minds, they filled tiny plant pots with soil, gently nestled in their roses, and beamed with pride as they admired their creations 🪴

There was excitement in the air - not just about planting flowers, but also about watching seeds they'd planted begin to sprout and grow. These hands-on moments are where understanding the world really comes to life 🌱

Through this activity, the children practised:
– Following instructions step by step
– Taking turns and sharing tools thoughtfully
– Using rich language and communication as they talked through what they were doing
– Building a deeper connection with nature through meaningful discovery

It’s these little tasks - filled with soil, sunshine and teamwork - that plant big seeds of learning 💛

"I can do it myself!" - and that’s where the magic begins 💛

We deeply believe in the power of independence - not as a goal, but as a journey every child deserves to take, step by confident step ✨

Independence in early years isn’t just about putting on coats or pouring milk (though those are big wins too!) It’s about helping children build decision-making skills, develop emotional resilience, and feel safe, capable and in control of their world all whilst learning that their choices matter - and their voices do too 🗣️

By offering gentle, age-appropriate choices (like “Would you like to wear the red boots or the blue ones?”), we nurture a sense of agency and self-belief that children will carry far beyond nursery life.

Because when a child says “I did it!”, what they’re really saying is “I’m growing.” 🫶
