Bright Kids Crabbs Cross Celebrates 18 Years of Childcare in Redditch!

We’re celebrating our Crabbs Cross setting’s 18th birthday this month!

Children, staff and parents past and present joined us on 30th August for a Greatest Showman themed party, with entertainment and circus skills from Professor Pepperpot, cake, a sweet cart, soft play and party food.

We first opened our doors in September 2001. The following year we also started offering out of school care and have gone from strength to strength ever since, enjoyed 18 years’ worth of Good Ofsted ratings.

Our Deputy Nursery Manager, Lorraine Ashford, has been with Crabbs Cross since the very beginning. She said: “I love seeing how the nursery grows and develops each year.

“I’ve seen so many children come and go and some of them still pop back in to say hello from time to time, which is lovely. It’s great to watch the children grow through exploring and playing and enjoying our free-flowing spaces that are developing all the time.

“It’s been a jam packed and fun filled 18 years, no two days are ever the same! We’re all looking forward to many more years to come.”

Some families have also been with us since the early days.

Parent Judy Peachey, whose three children have all attended our Crabbs Cross setting, said: “We have been coming to Bright Kids Crabbs Cross since January 2005, when our first son Owen was six months old – he is now 15! We have had two more children, Charlie (now 12 years old) and Keira (now 7 years old), who have both been going to nursery since they were babies. All three children have also attended the breakfast club, once they started school.

“We absolutely love Bright kids and refer to them as “our Bright Kids family.” We love going to the various events throughout the year; a highlight for us is always the Christmas Fayre, which has become such a tradition that it signals the start of our Christmas.

“Bright Kids has been there through all the precious moments, such as pregnancies, first steps, potty training and preparing our children (and us) for school. The staff are wonderful and always greet us with a warm welcoming smile each morning, they have looked after our children like their own! We wouldn’t send our children anyway else. Thank you Bright kids!”

Bright Kids Owner, Tricia Wellings, said: “Happy Birthday Crabbs Cross! This is the second setting we opened, following the success of our flagship setting in Studley.

“The nursery has gone from strength to strength over the years, repeatedly retaining its Good Ofsted rating and, through the hard work and dedication of its team, has flourished into the thriving, bustling setting that it is today.

“I hear nothing but praise from our parents and colleagues about the team at Crabbs Cross and am proud to have been offering such a high standard of childcare to local families for so many years. Here’s to many more!”
