This week at Bright Kids Coughton, we’ve been learning all about how to keep our bodies clean, healthy and active as part of Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Week - a cause that means so much to us as one of our wonderful nursery families lives with Cystic Fibrosis 💛
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition that affects the lungs and digestive system, making it harder to breathe and absorb nutrients. Children and adults with CF often need daily physiotherapy, medication and routines to help keep their lungs clear and their bodies healthy.
To help the children understand how germs spread and why handwashing matters, Our Investigators team led a brilliant science experiment using water, pepper (pretend germs!) and soap - and the results were eye-opening! When we washed our hands with just water, the germs stayed... but when we added soap, they ran away 🧼🦠
We've also read stories about hygiene and health, with Flu Fighters quickly becoming the top pick at circle time 📖 We chatted about the importance of exercise, especially for lunch health and then we got our bodies moving with lots of jumping, bouncing and outdoor fun - all child-friendly ways to mimic physio through play 🏃♂️ and we've explored yellow-themed playdough, ice and water play 🧊
Today, we are finishing the week with a splash of sunshine on Wear Yellow Day, dressing ourselves - and the nursery - in every shade of Y E L L O W to show our love and support ☀️
Thank you to our families - for standing with us, raising awareness, and showing children the value of empathy, science, and community. Together, we are helping them grow with understanding and kindness 💛
