World Book Day fun

World Book Day funSnow White, Spiderman and a pirate were just some of the colourful characters spotted in Redditch and Birmingham, as youngsters took part in World Book Day.

Children and staff from Bright Kids nurseries in Crabbs Cross and Northfield donned their favourite outfits in honour of their literary heroes as the popular event returned for another year.

Anita Shepherd, manager at Crabbs Cross, said the day helps the children to engage with the books they read.

“We always have a fantastic response from the children as they love dressing up as their favourite literary character,” said Anita. “They all enjoy reading and World Book Day gives them a chance to share their favourite stories, and at the same time share the pleasure of reading, which is so important.”

“After reading their favourite stories they took part in a range of activities based around books and reading – it was a really fun day.” Kerrie McCaffery, deputy manager at Northfield added: “They all had a lovely day dressing up and reading different books. We can’t wait for the next fun day.”
