Bright Kids Crabbs Cross Celebrates its 16th Birthday

Bright Kids’ Crabbs Cross Nursery celebrated 16 years of caring for tiny tots in Redditch, by throwing a party on Friday 1st September.

Children enjoyed party food, birthday cake and welcomed the mascots from 360 Play, as well as games and dressing up.

The nursery, on Evesham Road, first opened its doors in 2001. The following year it also started offering out of school care and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

It has enjoyed 16 years’ worth of Good Ofsted ratings, with its most recent coming in just last month.

Nursery Managers Lorraine Ashford and Anita Shepherd, along with Playworker Fay Morris, have all been at the nursery since the beginning.

Lorraine said: “I’ve loved seeing how the nursery has grown and developed over the last 16 years.

“I’ve seen many children come and go and some of them still pop back in to say hello from time to time, which is lovely. It’s great to watch the children grow through exploring and playing and enjoying our free-flowing spaces, that are developing all the time.

“At this time of year, it’s always sad to see children leaving us and moving on to school, but it’s great to know that we’ve been part of their learning journey and have given them the foundation they need to continue to flourish throughout their education.

“It’s been a jam packed and fun filled 16 years, no two days are ever the same! We’re all looking forward to many more years to come.”

Some families have also been with Bright Kids since the early days.

Parent Judy Peachey, whose three children have all attended Bright Kids in Crabbs Cross, said: “We have been coming to Bright Kids for over 12 years, when our first son Owen started there at six months old. He is 13 now! Our other two children, Charlie, who is nine, and Keira, who is five, have both been attending the nursery since they were babies. All three of them have also attended the before school breakfast club since they started school.

“We absolutely love Bright Kids and refer to it as our ‘Bright Kids family!’ We thoroughly enjoy going to its’ various events throughout the year – a particular highlight is the Christmas Bazaar, which has become such a tradition that it signifies the start of Christmas for us!

“Bright Kids has been there through all of the precious moments, from first steps and potty training, to preparing our children for school. The staff are wonderful and always smiling and welcoming. We wouldn’t send our children anywhere else.”

Bright Kids Crabbs Cross offers childcare for children aged from six weeks up to five years. It also offers before and after school care and holiday club for children aged from four to 12 years.

Bright Kids Owner, Tricia Wellings, said: “Happy Birthday Bright Kids Crabbs Cross! This is the second setting we opened, following the success of our flagship setting in Studley.

“The nursery has gone from strength to strength over the years, repeatedly retaining its Good Ofsted rating and, under the management of Anita and Lorraine has flourished into the thriving, bustling setting that it is today.

“I hear nothing but praise from our parents and colleagues about the team at Crabbs Cross and am proud to have been offering such a high standard of childcare to local families for so many years.”

  1. It’s been a pleasure to work for the company for so long I couldn’t see myself anywhere else. We had such a great time celebrating the nursery’s birthday and it was nice seeing all the children’s happy faces and getting into the party spirit wearing their party clothes and joining in with games.
